When Food met Taste

There are scores of dhabas at Jagraon, which is situated at a distance of about 40 kms before Ludhiana, but Raja Dhaba is the most favored haunt of the drivers and the visitors, driving down from Amritsar, Ferozpur, Moga , going to Ludhiana and Chandigarh, or coming from Chandigarh and driving back home. It is a vegetarian dhaba, and the missi 0roti and the ma dee daal is the dish to try out. But if one is interested in crisp chapattis, then the chapattis fresh from tandoor, with the earthy smell of the tandoor as an aroma is appetizing.
One can either have food in the air-conditioned ambience or one can laze around on the cots and eat the food the traditional way. During the winters the Dhaba runs a buffet outside and it is a big hit, as one can have food to one’s own liking and can try out the variety of foods that it has on offer. It takes some time to give the orders, as there is only one man, who mans around 30 tables, but it adds to the charm of the place, as it provides the much needed rest after a longish driving. The icing on the cake is the Kulfi that the Dhaba offers as sweet dish and it must be tried out.

Writing related to travel and associated accompaniments is a quest of self discovery, as the more one travels, more one unlearns and understands, cultures and civilizations all over. Challenge is to make the reader involved in this quest of discovery through the writings.
